Travel & Stay
Abruzzo, Italy
Directions
We’ll be celebrating close to Omar’s hometown, Pescara, a seaside gem on Italy’s Adriatic coast.
Both venues are about 20 minutes from Pescara / Abruzzo Airport (PSR) — so you can go from plane to prosecco in no time!
The main airline flying to Pescara is Ryanair.
From the Netherlands, the easiest route is from Weeze Airport (just across the German border and connected by a direct bus from Nijmegen Centraal). There are flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays — perfect timing for a long weekend in Italy. That said, the flight schedule is brutally early - so good to drive & park, get an airport hotel, take the night train/bus or abandon hope and go from/to another airport (Amsterdam -> Rome, or Brussel Charleroi -> Pescara).
There's also connection from Frankfurt Hanh, London Stansted and Prague
If you can’t catch a direct flight, no worries — there are plenty of nearby airports within 1.5 to 3 hours’ drive or bus:
Rome • Ancona • Foggia • L’Aquila • Bari • Rimini
Among these, Rome is the best connected by train and bus if you prefer not to drive

Where to stay
There are many different types of accommodations around Pescara, depending on your preferences:
There are several agriturismi if you’re looking for something quiet, local, and with fresh products (a car is a must), such as: Torre Mannella Agriturismo, Villa Sarno, Podere degli Asinelli.
There are also plenty of lovely houses, hotels, and apartments in the area — for a city vibe, look around Corso Umberto I in Pescara (My Home 75, and many others). Some trendier hotels nearby include BR1, Exclusive Room, and Le Duse.
The beaches of Montesilvano are also beautiful and offer many holiday homes and large hotels (Sea Lion Hotel or Mediterranea Sea House). For more Italian film-style vibes, it’s best to look in the villages of Città Sant’Angelo or Spoltore (for example B&B Ottocento, Belvedere Hotel, or BellaVista).
There are no accommodations within walking distance of our villa — but plenty within a 5–20 minute drive. We recommend either driving or taking a taxi on the day itself.
So choose something you’ll enjoy (and not just what is closest to the venue).
Costa dei Trabocchi
A scenic stretch of coastline dotted with old wooden fishing huts suspended over the sea — some now turned into cozy little restaurants or viewpoints. Perfect for a romantic walk or a lazy afternoon watching the waves.
Santo Stefano di Sessanio & Rocca Calascio
Step back in time with a visit to these medieval hilltop villages. Rocca Calascio, with its castle ruins overlooking endless mountains, feels straight out of a fairy tale (and yes, it’s even more magical at sunset).
